3. Why we process personal data
We process personal data for the following specified purposes:
- To create, authenticate, maintain, secure, and recover your account.
- To build and display your profile to other users according to your settings and app functionality.
- To provide discovery, recommendations, likes, matches, one-active-match functionality, and chat.
- To support profile photos, image uploads, content moderation, profile verification, and manual review.
- To provide subscriptions, premium features, entitlement checks, billing support, refund support, and fraud prevention.

- To debug, monitor, secure, and improve Viona, including through privacy-safe logs, metrics, analytics, testing, and error diagnosis.
- To comply with law, respond to lawful requests, preserve records where legally required, and establish or defend legal claims.
Where Indian law requires consent, we process personal data based on your consent. You may withdraw consent as described below, but withdrawal may limit or end our ability to provide parts of Viona. We may also process personal data for lawful uses recognized by applicable law, such as providing a service you requested, complying with legal obligations, responding to safety incidents, preventing fraud, and protecting Viona and its users.
4. Profile visibility and dating context
Viona is a social discovery and dating service. Information you add to your profile is intended to help other users decide whether to connect with you. Depending on your settings and the product experience, other users may see your name, age, photos, bio, prompts, interests, verification status, and profile fields that you choose to make visible.
Do not add information to your profile, photos, prompts, or chats that you do not want another user to see. We cannot control what another user does with information you choose to share with them, including screenshots or offline sharing.
5. Matching, moderation, and automated processing
Viona uses algorithms and automated systems to support recommendations, match ordering, swipe limits, content moderation, fraud detection, security monitoring, and subscription entitlement checks. These systems may use your profile, preferences, location, interactions, verification status, reports, device signals, and safety signals.
Automated systems can make mistakes. Where appropriate, moderation, verification, or safety decisions may be reviewed by authorized team members or service providers. You can contact us if you believe a decision about your account, profile, photo, report, verification, or subscription is incorrect.
7. International transfers
Viona may process and store personal data in India and other countries where our infrastructure, vendors, or support teams operate. When personal data is transferred outside India, we use appropriate contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards and comply with applicable Indian restrictions on cross-border transfers.
8. Your privacy rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access information about your personal data, correct inaccurate or incomplete data, withdraw consent, request deletion or erasure, obtain grievance redressal, and nominate another person to exercise your rights if you are unable to do so.
- Access and correction: you can review and update many profile fields in the app. You may also contact us for help.
- Consent withdrawal: you can withdraw optional permissions such as location, notifications, or photo access through your device settings. You may also contact us to withdraw consent for specific processing.
- Deletion: you can request account deletion through the app if available or by contacting us. Deletion may remove or deactivate your profile and revoke active sessions.
- Complaints: you can contact our grievance channel below. We will review and respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
- Appeals and reports: if available, you may appeal certain moderation or verification decisions or submit additional context to support.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We may decline or limit a request where permitted by law, such as where we must retain data for fraud prevention, safety, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or another valid legal reason.
9. App permissions and device controls
Viona may request device permissions, including camera, photos, notifications, and location. You can control these permissions in your device settings. If you disable a permission, some features may not work, such as uploading profile photos, receiving match or message notifications, or using distance-based discovery.
10. Retention and deletion
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
- Active account and profile data is generally kept while your account remains active.
- Profile photos are kept while they are part of your profile or while needed for safety, moderation, technical recovery, or legal reasons.
- Verification selfies are intended for verification and safety review and may be deleted or restricted after the verification process, except where retention is needed for fraud, abuse, appeals, audit, or legal compliance.
- Chats, matches, likes, blocks, reports, and moderation records may be kept to operate the service, preserve safety context, investigate abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
- Subscription records may be kept for accounting, fraud prevention, customer support, tax, and app-store compliance.
- Security logs, diagnostics, audit logs, and backups may be kept for limited periods based on operational, security, and legal needs.
When you delete your account, we deactivate or delete account data from active use, delete profile images where technically available, and revoke sessions. Some records may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, safety records, legal records, or records needed to protect other users.
11. Security safeguards
We use reasonable security practices and procedures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or misuse. These safeguards include access controls, authentication, encryption in transit, restricted administrative access, audit logging, monitoring, rate limiting, short-lived media access URLs, secure cloud infrastructure, and privacy-conscious logging practices.
No app, website, network, or storage system is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device secure and for not sharing OTPs, account access, or private information with others.
12. Data incidents
If we become aware of a personal data breach that requires notification, we will take steps to assess, contain, investigate, and remediate the incident and will notify affected users, regulators, or authorities as required by applicable law.
13. Children and underage users
Viona is not for children or anyone under 18. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account. If we learn that a user is under 18, we may remove the account, restrict access, delete related personal data where appropriate, and retain limited safety records where needed to prevent misuse or comply with law.
If you believe a minor is using Viona, report the account in the app or contact us.
14. Third-party services and links
Viona may include links, integrations, payment flows, app-store pages, or support channels operated by third parties. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before sharing information with them.
15. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate information, keeping your account secure, using Viona lawfully, respecting other users, and not impersonating another person. Do not submit false reports, upload content you do not have the right to use, or share another person's personal data without permission.
16. Language and accessibility
This policy is currently provided in English. If you need help understanding this policy or exercising your rights in another Indian language, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to assist you as required by applicable law.
17. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify you, such as through the app, website, email, or another appropriate method. The "Last updated" date shows when this policy was last revised.
